Elias G. Eldayrie

Vice President and CIO

Elias G. Eldayrie has been the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the University of Florida since 2010. He has played a key role in supporting UF’s ascent to being one of the nation’s top-5 public universities and establishing its leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. Eldayrie’s tenure saw the modernization and expansion of UF’s research, student, and institutional computing systems. He oversees an IT operation with an annual budget of over $100 million and more than 500 employees.

A major achievement under his leadership is the creation of HiPerGator, an AI supercomputer built with NVIDIA, which is HITRUST certified and supports a significant portion of UF’s $1.3 billion research portfolio. HiPerGator is pivotal to UF’s AI workforce education initiative, unique in higher education.

He implemented one of the first 400-gig ethernet networks in the nation and a unified Wi-Fi system across UF locations in Florida’s 67 counties. He serves on various boards, including Florida LambdaRail, Internet2, and Unizin, and the State of Florida Cybersecurity Advisory Council.

Before UF, Eldayrie was the CIO at the University at Buffalo for 23 years. He holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University at Buffalo. In his free time, he enjoys cheering for the Gators with his family.
