Administrative Areas of the Office of the Provost

Various administrative units on campus report directly to the Provost's Office.  This is in addition to the academic units noted under Duties and Responsibilities of the Provost.

Academic and Faculty Affairs

The Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs (APAF) works with the Provost, UF units, the Faculty Senate, and other institutions such as the Florida Board of Governors to facilitate academic programming, manage the University promotion and tenure process, and coordinate issues related to the faculty.

Graduate School

The Graduate School is responsible for the coordination of the graduate programs of the various colleges and the divisions of the university.

Institutional Assessment

Institutional Assessment provides guidance, oversight and coordination of the university's academic assessment and institutional effectiveness processes, with primary responsibility for the university's efforts to maintain regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Institutional Planning and Research

The Office of Institutional Planning and Research is responsible for providing the university management with information that supports institutional planning, policy formation and decision making; for coordinating responses to inquiries for university-related information and serving as a comprehensive source for information about the institution; and for administering the Board of Governors data collection/reporting system on campus.

International Center

The UF International Center (UFIC) administers international programs for visiting scholars and students, study abroad programs, and collaborative agreements with partner institutions across the world. UFIC also helps the UF community to overcome the barriers and to navigate the increasingly complex intricacies of both American and international regulations on global engagement.

Ombuds

The purpose of the Office of the Ombuds is to assist students in resolving problems and conflicts that arise in the course of interacting with the institution. By considering problems in an unbiased way, the Ombuds works to achieve a fair resolution and works to protect the rights of all parties involved.

Teaching and Technology

The Office of Teaching & Technology (TNT) upholds and extends the mission of the university by its emphasis on teaching excellence and innovation. The units within the office are dedicated to knowledge dissemination that stimulates a lifelong yearn to learn. The learners who benefit from this work include the traditional residential, distance, and working professional/part-time student, as well as continuing and community education students.
