  • Coordinates with departments and colleges, the Graduate School, the Office of Undergraduate Affairs, the Office of Institutional Research, the Florida Board of Governors, the Council of Academic Vice President’s Academic Coordinating Group, and other SUS institutions on academic program development, changes, suspensions, and closures
  • Oversees, reviews, and submits college responses to Florida Board of Governors program review cycle
  • Works with the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Undergraduate Affairs to develop and implement policies and procedures related to student coursework and faculty teaching responsibilities
  • Coordinates with the Office of Human Resource Services on faculty benefits, personnel issues, the faculty pay plan, and hiring waivers; reviews nepotism agreements and manages administrator evaluations (E&G)
  • Manages the faculty grievance process (out-of-unit); consults with University Ombuds regarding faculty/student conflicts

  • Responsible for establishing, maintaining, and refining the university’s institutional effectiveness and assessment processes
  • Provide institutional support for all units for the development of goals, outcomes, and their assessment and reporting

Responsible for design, collection, interpretation, analysis, and dissemination of data about all aspects of the University of Florida, as well as comparative state and national data.   Additional duties include:

  • Responding to and analyzing results of University-wide surveys, including SERU

Responsible for overseeing the Effort Tracking System, which includes data collection, editing, supporting and training of departmental staff; maintenance, testing and analysis of Revenue Cube; and creation of human resource data reports and analyses.  Other duties include:
  • Managing the effort certification process for units
  • Creating of files to support major applications for reporting the Instruction and Research File, and Expenditure Analysis to the Board of Governors
  • Planning, developing, and maintaining computer programs to support the Revenue Cube

The Ombuds assists students within the university community in solving problems and conflicts. The Ombuds listens, discusses issues, answer questions, interprets policies, provides information and referrals and help develop options for problem resolution. The Ombuds serves as an advocate for fairness for University of Florida students.

The Ombuds discusses concerns confidentially, which typically involve:

  • grade appeal

  • Assists the Provost with managing the daily operations/activities, appointments, and travel.
  • Serves as liaison to the UF Board of Trustees Committees on Academic, Faculty and Student Success, Public Relations, and Strategic Communications, ensuring agendas and supplemental information are provided to the trustees as well as assisting individual trustees with additional information as requested.
  • Also serves as liaison to the Vice Presidents, College Deans and other areas on and off-campus.
  • Works with Faculty Senate administrative assistant on new degree proposals to ensure the degree has all the approvals needed for implementation.
  • Responsible for notifying the Board of Governors Office of new degree programs, degree program terminations, or degree program name changes to be placed into the state’s inventory.
  • Also responsible for notifying the Board of Governors when new centers or institutes are created or changes are made to current centers and/or institutes.
  • Responsible for management of secretarial/administrative support staff within the Office of the Provost.

  • Serves as the first point of contact for the Office of the Provost, managing incoming calls and visitors.

  • Provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction in the use of technology in teaching.
  • As the chief teaching and technology officer, oversees UF Online, Office of Workforce and Professional Development, Center for Teaching Excellence, Center for Online and Innovation and Production, and Operational Services for Self-Funded Programs. 

 

 

  • Provide campus-wide leadership for, and oversight of, undergraduate and professional degree programs and student academic support services and serve as an advocate for undergraduate education in support of the university’s mission.
  • Promote excellence in teaching and advising, and lead efforts to provide a challenging and engaging learning environment for undergraduate students.
  • Initiate innovative undergraduate academic programs that build on the strengths and successes of the university.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and enhance the University of Florida’s degree tracking system.
  • Serve as the Community College Articulation Officer, maintaining relations with community colleges in the state and ensuring university compliance with state-mandated articulation agreements.  Promote development of partnership programs with Santa Fe College.
  • Act as the Academic Affairs liaison to the Faculty Senate in all undergraduate matters, including chairing two joint committees:  the University Curriculum Committee and the General Education Committee.
